J. Michael Treviño has decades of experience in legislative and regulatory advocacy, communications, image development, and reputation management. As the Executive Advisor at Treviño Consulting Group, Michael leads strategic communication services with a strong emphasis on public-private partnerships designed to inform policymakers.

Michael specializes in developing business-to-business outreach strategies, establishing third-party networks, and building public-private coalitions of corporate, community, professional, and minority organizations to educate and advocate. Michael has been recognized with countless accolades and is known for his civic engagement within the Houston community as well as with leading national organizations. Michael has more than four decades of professional experience in communications, government affairs, law, public and stakeholder relations. Michael’s skills were honed while working in support of civil and human rights organizations, international and domestic oil and gas interests, and civil society. Michael spent 25 years as a Senior Executive in Oil and Gas at Texaco and Marathon.

Michael brings decades of experience working in Diversity, Equity and Inclusions. Working with the American Petroleum Institute (API), he designed and implemented a program to bring non-traditional allies to the industry table through a systematic outreach, education, engagement, and mobilization program. National business, minority, education, labor, veterans, and professional organizations were invited to engage industry leaders through the API.

He is heavily involved in the Coalition for Mutual Respect, whose membership consists of the senior leadership of all the major faith groups in the Houston Metro Area and selected business and civic leaders.
